Has the Nike Air Foamposite One slyly been building up to the 2012 Summer Olympic Games over the past couple of years? The ‘Dirty Copper’ was the first to really break ground on the metallic look a couple of years back with its bronze sheen, the ‘Pewters’ were second in line bearing a silvery look, and now the trio is apparently set to culminate some time this summer (a rumored August release date is floating around) with this pair grabbing the gold.

NIKE AIR MAX 1 WEEK Kicking off a fresh week of Classics Revisited segments is a look at some of the most coveted Air Max 1 releases of the last decade+ era. Although it would almost impossible to recount every single Air Max 1 release that has become available since the sneaker first debuted in 1987, we’d like to place a worthy spotlight on the ‘Ones’ the carried the sneaker game, and what better than one of the most memorable collaborations in history? Japanese retailer Atmos brought back the Air Max 1 and Air Safari in cohesion fifteen years after the two sneaker models debuted side-by-side; featuring a Safari print on the mudguard and ankle collar, a canvas twill material at the toe, a soft suede on the upper and heel, and a gum outsole, the Atmos x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Safari’ boasted incredible quality in craftsmanship in an outstanding colorway that grasped ‘Safari’ undertones to a tee

Eat your sneaker cakes! Most of the sneaker cakes we’ve shown you have been photographed in their complete, intact, ‘deadstock’ form, so seeing it sliced open at the toe-box and revealing the chocolate cake and strawberry icing innards might make your cringe just a bit. This special cake was the centerpiece of the surprise birthday part with a ‘Celtics’ theme, and what better sneaker to use as the model for a cake than the Air Jordan XIII ‘Ray Allen’

“What the Kobe?!” is an expression fairly close to what Laker fans have been feeling as their team narrowly avoided defeat at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, but the Black Mamba wore decidedly calmer sneakers for the first round than the wild animal-printed color study with that nickname.  Instead of Cheetahs or Wolves or Poison Dart Frogs, Kobe has opted for the simple yet effective PE colorups on the  Nike Zoom Kobe VII Supreme .

It wasn’t enough to keep former coach Mike D’Antoni around when Carmelo and co. collectively checked out, but  Jeremy Lin’s  influence on the New York Knicks this season is still easily one of the year’s most notable stories.  The young Harvard grad who’d been all but forgotten by the talent-rich NBA seemingly came out of nowhere to spark an outbreak of ‘Linsanity’ when he set all kinds of records and led the Knicks to seven wins in his first seven starts.

On Saturday, LeBron James was officially announced as the 2011-12 NBA Season MVP, earning an unprecedented third honor and joining quite the impressive unit of fellow multi-MVP winners like Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Wilt Chamberlain. What separates LeBron from that honored group is the LeBron is the only one to not win an NBA Title, but he’s definitely on his way as he led the Miami Heat to a Game 1 win against the Indiana Pacers while wearing the Nike LeBron 9 ‘MVP’ after being presented the award in front of the Home crowd.

This year’s flagship is a performance-oriented world-beater, the Air Max 1 is celebrating its 25th anniversary and plenty of more obscure classics have come out of the Nike Sportswear vault in recent months, but can any of those lines match the energy behind the Air Max 95 family right now? Not only are new colorways consistently hitting retailers, but we saw got both No-Sew and Hyperfuse-constructed pairs debut a short while back. The latter of those, Nike Air Max+ (95) 360 is such a perfect progression from the original that even hardened purists can find merit in the new gradients its synthetic upper makes possible.

Hints of Nike Skateboarding collaboration with American fashion staple Levi’s began spilling out after Omar Salazar sent a cryptic close-up of the back-tab of a pair of jeans, and after reporting the official July 4th release date in mid-April, today we have a detailed look at the Nike SB x Levi’s 511 Jeans. These are crafted in classic Levi’s style in the 511 cut (which Levi’s already has a Skate sub-label for) in a rigid black wash colorway, sized 32 x 32. No confirmation or updates regarding a possible footwear tie-in to the Nike SB x Levi’s collaboration, but perhaps a small capsule of skate gear
