Nike’s Elite socks have been cool kid garb for a minute now, with the padded cotton pairs being a way to set yourself apart from the crowd a bit. Things really got serious last month though when, amidst the ‘Galaxy’ frenzy, this tie-in pair popped up as a killer consolation prize and quite the hot ticket item on the secondary market. For the time being Nike Basketball is apparently continuing down the road of Elite socks to go with specific sneakers, as the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Poison Dart Frog’ and the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Summit Lake Hornets’ are both shown here with accompanying pairs (not to mention some slick customized AW77 hoodies as well)

The Los Angeles Lakers continue to improve their position heading into the NBA Playoffs, currently sitting at third place in the Western Conference with about twenty games remaining. That means the Lakers are now firmly on track to host at least the first of their playoff series, a fact that might limit the playing time for this  Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite ‘Away’  colorup. This black-based colorway adds a golden Swoosh to its severely snake-scaled uppers, the kind of premium elegance that’s befitting the reworked carbon fiber heel counter (a texture echoed on the  new Elite Series  packaging)

Can the NBA top this past weekend’s ‘Feet’? They’ve got a tough task at hand as we saw some sick sneakers hit the hardwood – shoes like the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’, Air Jordan XIII ‘Bred’ , Air Jordan X ‘Stealth’, and LeBron 9 ‘Dunkman’ – so let’s see if this past Monday and Tuesday were any good! First off, Joe Johnson rocked a PE of the Jordan Six Rings, while both Dwyane Wade and Shannon Brown donned the Air Jordan XIV ‘Last Shot’

Kobe’s signature line has been one of the more graphically diverse in the Nike Basketball range for a minute now, with his last go round including camo and 3-D looks just to name a few.

The ‘Lakers’ edition is an obvious tie-in to the team Kobe Bryant has led to five NBA Championships and the ‘Easter’ version shares Mint Candy with the KD IV and LeBron 9 Lows celebrating that same holiday, but what about the above pictured  Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Poison Dart Frog’  colorway?  It’s perhaps the truest to its inspiration, a nod to the variety colloquially known as ‘strawberry poison dart frog’, that mimics  Dendrobates pumilio ‘s red body/blue feet ‘colorblocking’.

It’s become increasingly common to see high profile releases previewed in their GS form, but when grade school Nike Zoom Kobe VIIs come down the pike, they’re usually a kids-only colorway like the black, purple and pink pair that dropped earlier this year.  But that doesn’t mean that the Black Mamba doesn’t provide for all his little snakelets out there, this  Zoom Kobe 7 ‘Poison Dart Frog’  in its  Mint Candy-accented Easter edition  evidence of a hotly anticipated mens style porting over to smller feet.  Check them out in greater detail after the jump and find yours three weeks ahead of the full sizes at  Social Status

The Kobe VII schedule of releases is still looking mighty strong for the remainder of the year; the ‘Year of the Dragon’, both Elites, and of course, the trio of ‘Poison Dart Frog’ Kobes have yet to hit stores. The last of the aforementioned releases is the Blue/Red/Black colorway of the Poison Dart Frog Pack , a shoe that Sneaker News gave you a first look at. This new detailed gallery shouldn’t surprise you much – the design is consistent with the other two PDFs, with the deceptively innocuous frog stamped on the heel as a badge of power.

Sneaker News has been busy keeping you up to date with exclusive looks at upcoming colorways of the Kobe VII, but we’d like to side-step the ‘Poison Dart Frog’ and ‘Elite’ versions and bring you back to the High School PE colorways that have been a staple of the Zoom Kobe for a few years. This first look at the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Lower Merion Aces’ shoes a team red upper with grey/white detailing on the heel and the signature Ace of spades logo embedded onto the heel. No release date has been set just yet, so in the meantime, let us know how you think this primarily red-based colorway compares to last year’s grey-dominated PE of the ‘Aces’ , and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for more updates

For the last three years, Eric Avar and Kobe Bryant have defied the conventions of the basketball footwear design and put forth one of the most unique spans of signature sneaker history – a low-cut, performance shoe designed after soccer, but made for basketball. Strengthened by tensile Flywire fibers,  stabilized by proper outriggers, and cushioned with Zoom Air, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII was the perfect technical basketball shoe with an imperfect design. No visible ankle support and a curb weight rivaling that of a long-distance running sneaker was one of the more questionable features in the Zoom Kobe V, but since then, any doubts have been wiped out as the Zoom Kobe V, VI, and VII have become on of the most depended-upon and widely utilized performance basketball shoes in history

Perhaps Nike’s referencing the fact that a 5-seed in the West will result in a road game-heavy playoff bracket for the Lakers this year with the gold-accented, otherwise blacked-out  Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elites .
