This weekend has quietly turned out to be one of those massive ones for all things Beaverton between the Air Jordan XII ‘Playoffs’, the Nike Air Force 1 Low VT ‘Camo’, and the second batch of Nike Fly Knit goodies arriving as well. To top it all off some sneaks originally scheduled for next weekend miraculously got bumped up at at least one online retailer, with the ‘Away’ versions of both the Nike LeBron 9 Elite and the Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite up for grabs now at Jimmy Jazz .

The Nike Zoom Kobe VII System is the result of a confluence of forces including Nike Basketball’s Kobe signature series evolving from last year’s snake-scaled upper, the recent increase in animal print popularity and a sneakerhead fan base that demands the shoe look as amazing as it performs. The Zoom Kobe 7 came out of the gate with fury, its Christmas ‘Leopard’ colorway one of the most eye-catching kicks on the NBA’s season opening showcase, and has released in a variety of Predator and Poison Dart Frog colorups in the interim. The latest revelation makes Nike’s December Tweet about the Leopard’s inspiration seem as much foreshadowing as it was clarification, as the ‘Cheetah’ Zoom Kobe VII is indeed alive and ready to pounce on back to school shoppers.

Kobe Bryant’s been wearing these Poison Dart Frogs on and off since mid-late March , and a lot of spectators, even during live commentary, had curious statements about Kobe’s shoes. They do look funky and the Poison Dart Frog reference probably wouldn’t register instantly (or at all), but if you’re a sneakerhead, chances are you’re more of an expert on the amphibian than you were a year ago

Nike’s Elite socks have been cool kid garb for a minute now, with the padded cotton pairs being a way to set yourself apart from the crowd a bit. Things really got serious last month though when, amidst the ‘Galaxy’ frenzy, this tie-in pair popped up as a killer consolation prize and quite the hot ticket item on the secondary market. For the time being Nike Basketball is apparently continuing down the road of Elite socks to go with specific sneakers, as the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Poison Dart Frog’ and the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Summit Lake Hornets’ are both shown here with accompanying pairs (not to mention some slick customized AW77 hoodies as well)

The Los Angeles Lakers continue to improve their position heading into the NBA Playoffs, currently sitting at third place in the Western Conference with about twenty games remaining. That means the Lakers are now firmly on track to host at least the first of their playoff series, a fact that might limit the playing time for this Nike Zoom Kobe VII Elite ‘Away’ colorup. Kobe Bryant broke out the ‘Poison Dart Frog’ Zoom Kobe VII in a Lakers colorway last night’s victory in Houston, but what will the Black Mamba be wearing when LA concludes its quick trip to Texas? The Nike Zoom Kobe 7 pictured above is a perfect match for Laker games at Staples Center , their white base adding Concord and Del Sol for the traditional Showtime look.
