Kobe Bryant was ‘supposed’ to match Michael Jordan’s six championship rings and two three-peats last season, but instead, the Black Mamba is back in the hunt for that elusive one for the other thumb against an array of hungry young talent unmatched during his time in the league.  Kobe will need all the help he can get without Lamar Odom or Dwight Howard, so having an ally in something as ferocious as a great white shark certainly wouldn’t hurt to have at your disposal.

Kobe Bryant has at times been accused of being a lone wolf, an assassin-type whose main concern is his own dominance, and who will let once-in-a-lifetime partnerships fall to the wayside at the expense of ego games.  But Kobe proved to be a consummate leader in guiding the Los Angeles Lakers to two championships in the late ’00s, and has established himself as the greatest Laker of all time, even in the eyes of ‘The Big AARP’ to whom we alluded.

The Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Invisibility Cloak’ has begun to reveal itself to us today, as we now have an official U.S. release date for this high-energy release. In two Saturdays, February 18th, the Nike Zoom Kobe VII in Black, Court Purple, and Turquoise Blue will officially hit select Nike Basketball retailers at $140, making these a non-Supreme release (of course, the insoles are interchangeable if you have a pair of Supremes handy).

There’s a story from the  Toronto Raptors  inaugural season back in 1995-96 that’s currently making the rounds in the basketball blogosphere where Anthony Mason is quoted having evinced that he could not only set fashion trends, but also had a direct line to Nostradamus for one of the most common online disses a decade and a half later. “Dinosaurs, brotha?” Mason asked of the OG Raps, “If I was you, I’d [REMOVED] kill myself.” Mason’s then Knicks teammate Charles Oakley was also noted as offering some disparaging comments regarding Toronto’s cartoonish uniforms, which he ironically ended up wearing a few short years later, along with some sweet mini-dreads to bring the whole thing full circle.

February will be a month of hot releases, but none will be as significant as the Black History Month releases put forth by Nike. Here’s a first look at the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Black History Month’; it features A Black/Grey colorway with a translucent outsole with a graphic print owning the entire upper as well as the inner lining. The print seen on the upper is clearly inspired by traditional African artwork, but the specific inspiration behind the design isn’t yet known

“The only way to answer your question…is with more questions.” During the first two lectures discussing the beginning levels of the Kobe System, self-improvement guru Kobe Bryant provided some profound insight for Aziz Ansari and Serena Williams , helping them achieve success beyond success.
