What would happen if you took the  Nike Air Max 90 ‘s best known colorway and toned down the intensity on the black and red sections?  The first answer that comes to mind upon seeing this new pair is “Another beautiful AM90″, but let’s be more specific about what they’re bringing to the table

The last Air Max 90 for women Nike Sportswear offered was a continuation of the VacTech collection that’d expanded throughout the fall/winter season, and while this latest edition does indeed echo a design theme we first saw on another model, it’s one that’s strictly ladies-only. The  Nike WMNS Air Max 90  is back in a bold Storm Blue leather design whose Swoosh and ankle collar feature the same kind of  snakeskin-textured camouflage print  we saw on several WMNS Air Force 1 Lows. Given how those AF1s were gradually revealed, it’s not unfathomable to imagine other colorways in a similar style, so click through to see this pair and let us know if these have any 1.5-up potential.

The Nike Air Max 90 is a sneaker that has long been removed from its original context as a runner, enjoying a seemingly endless lifespan in the retro realm.

Nike Sportswear seems to be toning down the palette of the Nike Air Max 90 more and more with their continued retro releases. A look through the recent colorways sees the brightest of pairs left on the cutting room floor, with the ones that showed up at retail opting for exciting materials rather than popping colors to carry them. The latest, shown here in a bit of a stealth colorway, again keeps the color to a minimum with a mixture of blacks and whites on the upper.

The original tag line for the debut of the Nike Air Max 1 was “Nike Air is not shoe”. Twenty-five years later, that notion holds true, because Air Max – aside from its performance value – has driven the sneaker game into collector madness with its classics taking the spotlight front and center. Many will confess to owning multiple pairs of Air Max 1s, 90s, and 95s, but let’s not forget that Air Max went beyond the confines or running and into training and basketball, creating its own legacy within each individual sport.

The  Nike Air Max 90  has revealed a number of microtrends for its upcoming spring 2012 releases, and while we’ve certainly seen a lean toward generally simple designs across the entire Nike Sportswear catalog, here’s the first pair of Ninetys we’ve seen quite like this. They mix together both smooth and full grain leathers with a tonal sole and laces to achieve a premium blackout look that’s vaguely similar to a couple pairs of upcoming Air Force 1s in terms of textural contrast, but we’ve yet to see if this model might be joined by a white counterpart. If they do, that’d be one excellent sneaker for spring, but either way, this black pair also has tremendous merits (especially when it comes to versatility), and you’ll find them available at select NSW retailers like  Shelta  today

It’s been nearly a year since we’ve seen any denim on the Nike Air Max 90 , so when a sample pair surfaced last October in a black upper with grey accents, we were left to wonder if they’d been nixed or were in fact a sign of things to come. The latter seems true in light of this latest bit of Sneaker News, an announcement of the upcoming release of another pair with the same denim-like twill on its uppers, only this time, in the color most commonly associated with ‘blue jeans’

This past week included some major events – the Christmas Holiday weekend and the release of the Air Jordan XI Concord (a ton of you posted your new Concords on WDYWT). Some of you sported your holiday gift pick-ups, like the trio of the Nike Basketball Christmas 2011 Pack, but there was still a nice list of 20 kicks that made it into this week’s Sneaker News Blogs: Best of WDYWT ; the Hyperdunk McFly, a sick duo of Christmas-inspired Nike iDs, some OG Concords, and some Nike Basketball gems from the 90′s made up this great list, so take a look at all 20 below and we’ll see you next year! The Nike Air Max 90 VT will continue as part of Nike Sportswear’s spring 2012 release schedule, but the focus has shifted in recent weeks from the construction that marked the earlier pairs to a concentration of wooly uppers in a variety of knits.  And while we got a nice variety of leather and suede VacTech Air Max 90s, the above pictured pair certainly wouldn’t have fallen on deaf ears had they made the cut

The Nike Air Max 90 spent quite a bit of its 21st birthday covered in Hyperfuse or constructed by vacuums technology, so it’s nice to see a range of new pairs for the spring with a slightly more familiar feel. At least three new Air Max 90s are coming down the pike with classic OG ‘Infrared’ colorblocking and materials, but we won’t set a cap quite yet considering the appearance of a new Air Max 1 yesterday that furthered one of the core Q1 themes for that model. So for now, we know it’s this classic mix of white mesh, grey suede and a black leather mudguard along with yellow and lime-accented pairs, along with this edition in Soar blue that soar-ta looks like like the other beloved original AM90, the ‘Laser Blue’
