Kobe will need to bounce back against the Thunder for Game 2 if he wants to keep this series competitive because thus far, the Thunder have the Lakers outmatched in almost every category. But don’t underestimate the Black Mamba, who has demonstrated a killer instinct and can become one of the most unstoppable forces from time to time

Of the lengthy sneaker-design process, the Wear-Test stage is a make-or-break affair ; it doesn’t matter if the shoe looks amazing – if it doesn’t perform to the standards of the athlete, it’s back to the drawing board for the design crew. Of course, a lot of elements from a sneaker’s predecessor is carried on, but when looking at the progress of Kobe V to VI, the most notable change is the enlarged heel-cup – perhaps Kobe needed a bit more stability in that area for when he makes his daring cuts sand drives to the hoop

It was a tough going for Laker Nation yesterday evening as the OKC Thunder came out firing on all cylinders, closing out Game 1 by a margin of 29 points. Kobe will need to channel the seventh step of the KobeSystem to move the Lakers onto the Western Conference Finals, so let’s hope he continues bringing out the sick PEs, like his Yellow/Black Kobe VII Supreme (reminiscent of the Kobe VI ‘Lightbulb’ ) last night; just a few hints of red and you’ve got a legit take on the Bruce Lees (that seriously need to come back, doesn’t it?). More of Kobe and his Game 1 PEs after the jump (as well as some close-up shots) so take a look and let us know what you think

Just a small handful of games went down over the weekend, but what the NBA lacked in number, it overcompensated with heated competition and some new sneaks! The Los Angeles Clippers finally put away the tough Memphis Grizzlies as Chris Paul and his CP3.V led the Clippers to victory. Teammate Nick Young wore the best kicks though, wearing the Air Foamposite One ‘Metallic Red’ to match the Away uni. On the other side, Rudy Gay of the Memphis Grizzles brought back the Air Max Tempo in White/Navy

“What the Kobe?!” is an expression fairly close to what Laker fans have been feeling as their team narrowly avoided defeat at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, but the Black Mamba wore decidedly calmer sneakers for the first round than the wild animal-printed color study with that nickname.  Instead of Cheetahs or Wolves or Poison Dart Frogs, Kobe has opted for the simple yet effective PE colorups on the  Nike Zoom Kobe VII Supreme .

In an unprecedented footwear decision, Kobe Bryant reverted back to the non-Elite Kobe VII for Game 2 of the Lakers/Nuggets series, wearing a ‘Supreme’ PE colorway of purple and white. Turns out you can build your own Game 2 PE on Nike iD , and Kobe might be better off breaking ‘em out again because he had his best game of the entire Series wearing these Supremes (dropped 38 on an above-50% clip). Will Kobe Bryant and the Lakers seal the deal against the Nuggets in Game 6?

Our features on custom sneakers have placed a worthy spotlight on a few artistic individuals who have displayed their handiwork in their sick custom works. Among the ‘elite’ group of customizers is Jason Negron, one individual who has mastered and manipulated the Foamposite as if it were an extension of his own being, but his latest work is a ‘curveball’ of sorts as he makes an attempt at a Kobe custom inspired by one of the most popular Zoom Kobes in history. Here’s a look at the Nike Zoom Kobe VII ‘Grinch’ Custom; using this season’s ‘Christmas’ join as the base, Jason repainted almost the entire shoe, going full tonal neon volt on the upper and, in a nutshell, reconstituting the Grinch colorway on the heel, outsole, the laces, and the Swoosh.

When images of this Blue/Red Kobe VII Poison Dart Frog first dropped, a quick moniker of ‘Spiderman’ popped up among forums, but it’s clear that any sort of Spiderman nickname will have be squashed like a bug because the shade of red seen here is Team Orange , which is a bloody shade of orange that, apparently, in some light, appears like a bright red. Perhaps the shade will look more truer to Team Orange in a duller light, but this isn’t the first time a set of pictures played tricks on your eyes, right ( Metallic Pewter Foamposites , for one)
