Although we’ve already made the transition to the Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011, last year’s Hyperdunk flagship still made noise in 2011 thanks to a look at the unreleased ‘McFly’ colorway . The original Nike Hyperdunk was in fact inspired by the fictional Nike Mag that was featured in the classic Back To The Future film franchise, and so the ‘McFly’ version of the Hyperdunk was born and became one of the most coveted sneakers in recent years

The Miami Heat headed to Dallas with the series tied one game a piece, suddenly the ‘underdog’ as they squandered Home Court advantage by losing Game 2. You can consider Game 3 a ‘must-win’ for the Heat, and they certainly came through in fashion, sporting a team-unified tonal-red footwear theme

The last time Sneaker News showed you a pair of Dirk Nowitzki’s Nike Hyperdunk 2010 PEs , we speculated that his Dallas Mavericks might be a dark horse contender heading into the NBA Playoffs.  It was more wild conjecture than a real prediction, but sure enough, the Mavericks did indeed surprise the world and earn a rematch of the 2006 Finals vs. Miami.  And though it’s tough to say which team has the edge going into what’s sure to be a very highly-rated series, we can expect more brilliance from Dirk just like he can always count on Nike Basketball ‘s Hyperdunk 2010 to give him just enough lift on that unstoppable fallaway.  This latest Nowitzki player exclusive Hyperdunk 2011 adds a bunch more blue when compared to the earlier model, and you can see more images when you click on the jump below. Back in the late ’80s and early ’90s, Nike and Reebok went head to head to determine who would control the basketball sneaker market for what has turned out to be nearly two decades.  Nike had Michael Jordan , but they went so far as to more or less copy the ever popular Reebok Pump with the Air Pressure, leading the Vector brand to respond that fans should make the decision to ‘Pump Up and Air Out’.  We hadn’t seen any such oppositional marketing since then, but with adidas purchasing Reebok outright in 2005 to unite as the world’s second largest athletic brand, you just knew that wouldn’t be the end.  So here’s the newest example of brand warfare, a literal assault on the Nike Hyperdunk 2010 courtesy of adidas Basketball’s aptly named 9.8oz banger, the Crazy Light . The Crazy Light is shown to be levitating thanks to its featherlight construction, whereas it takes getting samurai chopped to get the Hyperdunk 2010 down to a similar weight.  A striking image, to be sure, but is being lighter than your competitor by the weight of their lateral toe really a huge advantage?  Could ads like this draw attention to the aggressor as underdog and thereby give unintended attention to the competitor?  And if you’ve worn a pair, is the adidas Crazy Light really better on court than the Hyperdunk 2010?  Click through to see the ad in its entirety and be sure to leave a comment to let us know what you think of this approach to advertising. White basketball shoes have been a summer necessity since the Air Force 1, but as new technologies develop, designers are able to add little twists here and there to keep things feeling fresh.  Have a gander at this new Nike Hyperdunk 2011 Low in the immortal white and Metallic Silver combo.  They have a bit more character than your average all-white lowtops thanks to an iridescent shine on the Flywire-reinforced TPU upper shell.  This spectrum effect looks quite nice next to the metallic heel counter, more images of which you can see by clicking on the jump below.  If you like what you see, grab a pair from a Nike Basketball retailer like Schuh-You .
