Of the six  leather vintage Blazers  Nike Sportswear has released over the past three-plus years, British sneaker suppliers Size? are responsible for two-thirds.  Their slice of the pie grows a bit larger today with word of another exclusive colorway, this time on the  Nike Blazer Low VNTG  silhouette.

With their relative rates of release over the first few months of 2012, it started to seem for a moment that the  Nike Blazer Mid AB ‘s spot as Nike Sportswear’s go-to medial-zippered lifestyle classic had been filled by the new All Court 3. But this new pair of the All Court-like toe-capped Blazer AB suggests otherwise, its simple all-over microperfed suede plus golden leather lining the kind of recipe NSW is known to utilize across multiple colorways. This Lush Teal edition is a great start to the summer season, a practically neutral pop for almost any outfit that’s available now from  Kicks-crew

Sneaker News has shown you a fairly large set of upcoming  Nike Blazer High VNTG  releases this month, each set offering a subtle variation from the formula that’d been this series foundation for about three years. In the case of the pair pictured above, it’s one of three to come  with canvas uppers  and suede relegated to the overlay sections, and that new material selection appears to have been all for the best on this new Cool Grey release.

The Nike Blazer High VNTG was introduced in 2009 and except for two leather pairs that year, followed the same formula for each of its releases through last November: add a Sail Swoosh, sole, tongue and laces to a single-colored suede upper.  The rustic shades combined with pre-yellowing on those off-white parts gave these an old-meets-new vibe, and then a pack of them apparently made of spare parts from earlier releases flipped the script just before last Thanksgiving.  A short while later, new leather pairs released, word of nylon drops to come surfaced and now just a few months later we’ve arrived at a point where just days after the first canvas-uppered pairs have dropped, here’s another duo with a brand new twist on the old recipe

Suede is so much a part of  Nike Sportswear’s Vintage Blazer  lineup that the majority of them have mentioned the nappy stuff in their official names right on the box.

A select few leather drops notwithstanding , the Nike Blazer High Vintage lineup stayed with a simple colored suede plus Sail Swoosh, sole and tongue formula for nearly three years before going with a tonal tongue/laces setup late last year.

The Nike Blazer High Suede VNTG debuted tonal nylon tongues late last year, a shift from the Sail default since the series’ 2009 inception that leaves these new designs looking more like modern classics than true OGs. Nike Sportswear has four new pairs of these on the way for Q2, all of them cast in colors strikingly similar to earlier releases, it’s easy to see the huge impact that tongue really makes. Grey, purple and yellow pairs revisit a trio of 2010 releases, while the green is an update to one of the initial trio of Vintage Blazer Highs.

If you take a look at the 2012 roll-out of new models from Nike SB , you’ll be able to grasp rather quickly what their goal is – respecting the origins of skateboarding while implementing its own spin on skating performance. Shoes like the P-Rod V and Zoom Koston One are prime examples of how Nike can elevate a classically-inspired skate shoe, but this particular feature focuses on one of Nike SB’s earliest converted models – the Nike Blazer

Since the series launched in early 2009,  Nike Sportswear’s Vintage Blazers  have almost exclusively come in suede uppers to match the rustic look of their oxidized, pre-yellowed soles.

Nike’s motto for 2012′s Black History Month is ‘Uplift’ – a strong message highlighted by its brevity and stoicism. The signature graphic print and distinct colors seen on these four Nike Sportswear releases was developed by Nike designers, inspired by the International African culture and drawing visual cues from Kenyan beads, African-American quilt-making, and even the Brazilian Carnivale, and the entire capsule itself is a gesture of celebration of the achievements of three significant teams – the ’96 USA Womens Basketball team, the ’02 Brazil Mens Soccer team, and the ’08 Kenyan Long-Distance Running team. The  NSW Black History Month collection will be available at select Nike Sportswear retailers; however, the release of the Air Max 1 has been postponed to a future date.
