Nike’s motto for 2012′s Black History Month is ‘Uplift’ – a strong message highlighted by its brevity and stoicism. The signature graphic print and distinct colors seen on these four Nike Sportswear releases was developed by Nike designers, inspired by the International African culture and drawing visual cues from Kenyan beads, African-American quilt-making, and even the Brazilian Carnivale, and the entire capsule itself is a gesture of celebration of the achievements of three significant teams – the ’96 USA Womens Basketball team, the ’02 Brazil Mens Soccer team, and the ’08 Kenyan Long-Distance Running team. The  NSW Black History Month collection will be available at select Nike Sportswear retailers; however, the release of the Air Max 1 has been postponed to a future date.

Tomorrow is the official release date of the Nike Sportswear Black History Month 2012 Pack , which features the Air Max 1 as part of the select group. However, Nikestore just confirmed that the Air Max 1 will not release tomorrow, but instead at a future date that is to be determined. Keep this in mind if you had plans on copping the Air Max 1 tomorrow, and stay tuned to Sneaker News for updated information.

When the Nike Air Max 1 first debuted in 1987, it was released in two colorways – Sport Red and Sport Blue. Both featured a basic color-blocking that combined each individual primary colorway with a hint of grey and white mesh uppers – a simple template that would continue to hold relevance today. We haven’t seen too many ‘OG-inspired’ colorways of the Air Max 1 because the shoe itself is so versatile when it comes to colorization, but whenever we do get a taste of the original colorway, it’s always worth notice

Sneaker News recently brought you a look at a few upcoming Nike Air Max 1 releases like the interesting Premium-grade suede-and-leather and the tonal Cyber green ‘denim twill’ – both slated for Summer 2012 drops. There are more on the way for 2012, like these three new additions that are likely to hit stores this Summer as well. We’ll start off with a nice citrus-y mix of orange and pink grapefruit tones done up in a canvas material, followed by two suede-built releases that feature a unique texture on the upper quarter (likely to be in some sort of ‘pack’).

A new year means a new collection of Nike Sportswear colorways; for Air Max 1 fans, some great releases have already occured, like the Action Red/Obsidian and Euro Gorge Green joints , but if you’re looking for something for more subdued and understated, check out this Black/Sail colorway. It features a mix of suede synthetic and sport mesh for the classic appeal, but the tonal black says these are more lifestyle than sport

The Denim Twill option on Nike iD has been quite popular since it first became available months ago, and it appears that Nike Sportswear will continue the Twill cycle with its in-store releases very soon. Releasing this April 2012 is this new Cyber/White colorway; it features a tonal Cyber Denim Twill upper with a white inner lining and midsole.
