They might not have the same kind of street-ready wearability as more traditional materials like leather, suede and mesh, but the newfangled synthetics that make Nike Basketball’s newest kicks so light also allows for the kind of  precision coloring  that you simply cannot master on those other fabrics.  Creating a two-tone worn effect like the one present on the  Nike Zoom Kobe VI ‘Lakers Gradient’  would require some kind of weathering process that’d add to the production cost and create some variance between each pair.  But the ZK6 suffers no such irregularity, its Flywire-infused TPU snake scale upper looking as good as it has during this entire product cycle thanks to the skillful blending of Los Angeles Lakers colors.

The unique removable bootie design of its successor has sneakerheads talking about the next upcoming model in Kobe Bryant’s Nike Basketball signature series, but don’t forget about the  Nike Zoom Kobe VI just yet. The ZK6 still has a sizeable run of dope colorways on tap including the truest Lakers editions we’ve seen since it launched last December, and one of those happens to be the above pictured model that’s been  dubbed ‘Lakers Gradient’ . The reasons are obvious, so the only catch with this one might be that it’ll remind LA roundball fans that the ZK5 versions commemorated a championship victory.

Here’s what happens when you wait to drop a traditional colorway until the summer when a league’s collective bargaining agreement is set to lapse.  Will we ever get the chance to see Kobe Bryant work his magic in this new  Nike Zoom Kobe VI  release?  You’d have to expect that if the NBA keeps on infighting through the rest of the year, we’ll see the Zoom Kobe VII when the Black Mamba returns to Staples Center.
