Had someone come along with an Air Jordan VI ‘Leopard’ custom just a few short months back, they would have probably looked something a bit closer to the trend that’s sweeping the casual sneaker scene, perhaps crafted from horsehair or somesuch other furry material for good measure.  But take into account the current popularity of color-swap customs and the almost alien good looks of the Kobe VII System ‘Christmas’ , and you end up with a ZK7-inspired AJ6 that captures the wild colorway and detailing, but one that offers the luxury of a leather upper that offers a nice foil against the Kobe 7′s techy build

Oh you thought Jordan Brand was still just making basketball shoes? It’s 2011 dummy! Michael’s empire has long since expanded its range to include casual and lifestyle offerings, and even some more rugged models like the Jordan Winterized 6 Rings shown here . The Air Jordan 6 Rings started out as a basketball shoe, but this version gets the outdoors update, with water proofing and a lug traction outsole among other added features

The hottest trend in customs at the moment by a wide margin is the reappropriation of classic colorways on new models.  To be fair, companies like Nike Sportswear have been doing this for ages, but there’s no denying that in recent weeks we’ve seen a ton of color swaps in the Sneaker News ‘Customs’ category.  And for whatever reason, one of the most popular models to get the makeover touch is the Air Jordan VI Retro .  The AJ6 is a classic in its own right, the shoe Michael Jordan wore when he won his first championship and a design so distinctive that Supra practically owes royalties for the Skytop II.  The Air Jordan 6 takes a backseat to no sneaker, so when it’s combined with the ‘Cool Grey’ Air Jordan XI look , you’ve got a bonafide burner.  MizzeeCustoms ‘ latest work might not be his most intricate in terms of colorblocking, but he went so far as to use a glossy paint to mimick the AJXI’s patent leather, which pushes this one over the top.  Click through to see more and let us know how these compare to all the other colorway homage custom sneakers we’ve seen of late. After an initial postponement, the release of the Air Jordan 6-17-23 in the White/College Blue-Black colorway will go down tomorrow at Jordan Brand retailers nationwide. This release, using the Air Jordan XVII of the same colorway as its blueprint, may not cause major blips on the sneakerhead radar, but many of our readers seemed to have more positive things to say about the hybrid shoe given the great color-blocking. These have already popped up at retailers a bit early, but you’ll be sure to find them at all spots tomorrow, so take another look below and grab a pair now  on eBay .

The Air Jordan 2011 has more sneakerheads excited than they have been about any AJ Legacy model in years so there’s quite a bit of disappointment surrounding the delay of three hot new colorways set to hit retail back on April 30th.  Things seemed to be on target till release date eve when Sneaker News brought you the unfortunate update regarding the Orion Blue, New Lime and V-Red/Wolf Grey AJ2011s being pushed back till late May .  But luckily we have another update today that these three Air Jordan 2011s will be in stores on May 21st along with the ‘Signal Blue’ Air Jordan 6-17-23 that had also been bumped from the original 4/30 drop date.  Click through to get a better look at all four, let us know which ones you plan to buy and stick with Sneaker News in case any of them become available early. The Air Jordan 6-17-23 combines the Air Jordan VI , Michael’s first Championship-winning sneaker, and the Air Jordan XVII , Michael’s Wizards come-back shoe. These dropped earlier this year in a ‘Carmine’ inspired colorway , but reverts back to the AJ17 with this new release taking after the OG colorway of the seventeenth Air Jordan. The upper features a tonal white upper with pebble-textured panels, while the midsole combines the blue midfoot plate and a metallic silver accent above a translucent outsole.

The Air Jordan 60+ was introduced in 2009 as a multi-Air Jordan hybrid that paid tribute to Michael 60+ point performances. Jordan Brand also followed that up with the Air Jordan VII Defining Moments Package, a set of two Air Jordan VII colorways that also represented Michael’s 60+ point outing against Orlando in January of ’93. Here’s a look at an unreleased sample colorway of the Air Jordan 60+ in the ‘Hare’ colorway; it features the two-toned upper of white and soft beige with the red/white/green tongue seen on the Hare VII.
