We’ll spare you the Jim Mora quote (already used it for the XIIIs), but we are indeed talking about ‘playoffs’ here on Sneaker News. One of the great understated additions to the Air Jordan Legacy will see its first retro run since 2004, and thanks to the complete lack of tweaks, they are indeed who we thought they were. The  Air Jordan XII Retro ‘Playoffs’  reminds us of a time when Michael was play[ing] to win the game[s] leading up to his  fifth NBA Championship  ring, an achievement culminated in June 1997 when he hoisted the Larry O’Brien trophy at United Center rocking this very pair.

Michael will tell you that there certainly is no place like ‘Home’. During the 1997 NBA Playoffs, Michael Jordan wore this colorway of the Air Jordan XII during the ‘Home’ games, and it only took him two games for Michael to get settled in – by dropping a double-nickel against the Washington Bullets (now Wizards)

They’re historically overshadowed because of a certain sick performance where Michael Jordan not only beat the Utah Jazz, but also food poisoning, but don’t forget that it was an Air Jordan XII original colorway other than the ‘Flu Game’ edition that MJ wore to capture the crown.

2012 marks the fifteenth anniversary of most of the  original Air Jordan XII colorways , and true to form, Jordan Brand will offer something of a celebration with a couple of Retros and at least one brand new colorup.  Aside from the ‘Flu Game’ colorup that was honored with a special variant just a couple years back, this  Air Jordan 12 Retro ‘Playoffs’  edition is likely the most memorable for the majority of sneakerheads, owing both to MJ wearing them while capturing his fifth NBA Championship as well as the image from those 1997 Playoffs appropriated for the cover of NBA2K10.  The OG ‘Obsidians’ and a new ‘Cool Grey’ pair will join the recently previewed Air Jordan XII Clave and Runner lifestyle looks, so which one(s) will you choose next year

About three years after the last Air Jordan 12.5 releases, the Jordan CMFT Max Air 12 debuted last November to push Air Jordan XII-based hybrids toward  a more casual appeal .  The chukka-styled AJXII Clave seems like the next logical step, but maybe we’d wedge the upcoming  Air Jordan XII Runner  in between them.  The AJ12 Runner TXT has the low-cut silhouette of a typical running shoe but the sole leans so far to the ‘classic’ end of the scale that they have more of a ‘lifestyle’ look than the full-length Air Max’d CMFTs

Jordan Brand’s Grown lifestyle series has evolved from a chukka-styled sneaker to one that more closely resembles classic Air Jordan Legacy silhouettes, so what happens when you launch a new family by going straight at the heart of the franchise?  Check out the  Air Jordan XII Clave , a model that you wouldn’t have been shocked to see Gourmet produce at one point in their history, but one that comes as a complete surprise from the Jumpman camp themselves.  From the Air Jordan Force Fusion collection to the recent CMFT hybrids, each numbered mashup has resulted in more classics being appropriated to fit the new theme

It was just last week that Sneaker News showed you an up close and personal look at a pair of  Air Jordan XII player exclusives  designed for Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Joe Johnson, so after having already seen one of Melo’s many PE XIIs a couple months back, now let’s turn our attention to another Jordan Brand baller who got a special pair of his own.  This  Air Jordan XII Dwyane Wade PE  was spotted on Agent D3′s feet in early 2010 after leaving Converse to sign with the Jumpman, their red-on-white look a direct takeoff on Michael Jordan’s 1996-97 regular season away defaults.  Check out more photos after the jump and let us know whose Air Jordan 12s are the best.

The ‘Taxis’ just hit retailers a couple weeks back so that leaves this Air Jordan XII Retro Low as the last colorway on tap for summer 2011.  So unless we’re in store for a surprise, this ‘un-Rising Sun’ colorway serves as the proper punctuation to their retro run.  A Chicago-style blend of black nubuck and patent leather with red and white accents, this Air Jordan 12 is one of those models you’ll see all over the place this summer.  Will you grab a pair when they hit US retailers?  Click through to see some new images and check back with Sneaker News for updates including the official release date.  via AGS Air Jordan XII Low Black/Varsity Red 308317-001 Read the rest of Air Jordan XII Retro Low – Black – Varsity Red | New Detailed Images © Sneaker News , 2011. | Permalink | 5 comments | Add to del.icio.us

There are two new Air Jordan XII Retro Low releases on tap for the upcoming months, one of which is a redux of an original colorway and another that’s entirely new.  The above pictured model is the latter of that duo, a brand new AJXII Low with the unique combination of (half-) perforated nubuck and patent leather that has only appeared on a single Twelve before it.  Maybe we can call these the ‘Setting Suns’, cos there’s no doubt they are something like the inverted ‘Rising Suns’ — both a flip from black to white and from mid to low.  Click through to get a close-up look at these new photos of the black patent Air Jordan 12 Low and stick with Sneaker News for the release date.  via Rstor Style: 308317-001 Color: Black/Varsity Red Read the rest of Air Jordan XII Low ‘Black Patent’ – New Images © Sneaker News , 2011. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us

Here’s another look at a shoe that’s about as close to an Air Jordan 11.5 as most purists could stomach.  The Air Jordan XII Retro Low pictured above successfully merges the Twelve’s silhouette with the Eleven’s patent leather mudguards for a look that’s sure to be one of the hottest selling sneakers this summer.  These joints shouldn’t be subject to the same scrutiny that surrounded the ‘Rising Sun’ AJXII ‘s insoles but there’s no denying their bizarro-style resemblance.  With a lowtop version of the Air Jordan 12 Retro ‘Taxi’ also on the way, would you have rather seen this new colorway in a midtop cut?  And now that they’re both below the ankle, which AJXII Low is your favorite?  Click through to see more of the black patent pair to aide in your decision and stick with Sneaker News for updates on their release.  via SneakerHotline Style: 308317-001 Color: Black/Varsity Red Read the rest of Air Jordan 12 Retro Low – Black Patent – New Photos © Sneaker News , 2011. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us
