It’s safe to say they’ve been usurped from the #1-of-2011 throne by the spectacular Nike Mag, but the vast majority of the sneakerhead community couldn’t afford to compete for those ultra-limited auction releases. And now that all the hype has turned from a raging boil down to a gentle simmer, the  Air Jordan XI Retro ‘Concord’  returns to the big spotlight as something like the ‘people’s champ’ of 2011.

The subject of uniform numbers on Air Jordan Retros is one that we’ll soon feel the impacts directly.  The AJX ‘Chicago’ had been seen with both ’23′ and ’45′ on its lateral ankles before the final version proved to be blank like the OGs, and we’ve seen the above pictured model with both of MJ’s uni numbers as well

The Jordan Brand is said to release an up-to-the-minute hybrid the launching date set at 2012. The manufacturers had a great opportunity capturing a wider market niche in 2011 and expect the release of the New Air Jordan Hybrid to be a breakthrough as well

If you’re old enough to remember the 1995 original release of the above pictured candidate for 2011 sneaker of the year, you probably remember when it was more efficient to get in line early Saturday morning to cop your Jordans rather than relying on internet retailers.  But in the sixteen years since the Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’ first dropped, we’ve witnessed the game shift radically because of the internet, allowing some retailers to hook us up with the hottest releases before they hit traditional retailers.  One such seller is Air-Randy, who sold through a shipment of Concords already and took the time on Monday evening to answer questions from buyers who had questions about shipping delays and the availability of a second run.  A sneakerhead named Frank McCullough pushed ARHK to honor their 72 hour shipment guarantee and Randy replied with a $10 refund for each pair of Concords ordered.  This kind of transparency looks good fir Air-Randy , but not as great as the spread of Air Jordan 11 Concords they have for the second shipment around August 11th. Allen Iverson is near the top of an elite group of players who parlayed their potential as NBA #1 draft picks into Hall of Fame careers.  But Iverson’s college career (and as a result, his professional future) was in jeopardy when a Valentine’s Day 1993 fight at a Virginia bowling alley resulted in a 15-year prison sentence being handed down.  10 years were suspended, but had VA governor Douglas Wilder not stepped in with a pardon, AI would have been even further delayed from attending Georgetown University .  Iverson made a huge mark as a Hoya, and before he broke Michael Jordan’s ankles a year later, AI rocked MJ’s Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’ during his sophomore season at GU.  It’d be even more ironic if the Hoyas uniforms were still supplied by Jordan Brand instead of Nike, but with MJ having hit his NCAA Championship-winning jumper against GU, there’s a certain symmetry in play here.  Click through to see more and let us know what you think is the best fit for your Air Jordan 11 ‘Concords’.  via Kickz-lab Read the rest of Air Jordan XI Concord – Allen Iverson Georgetown Homage Read the rest of Air Jordan XI Concord – Allen Iverson Georgetown Homage © Sneaker News , 2011. | Permalink | 5 comments | Add to del.icio.us

The Air Jordan XI was a groundbreaking model in so many ways, from its unprecedented use of carbon fiber and patent leather to the fact that no team before or since has won more games than the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.  The AJXI also marked the start of a trend, with a lowtop model debuting the following summer that established the chopped-off look as an annual occurrence.  And though this rare Air Jordan 11 Low sample is pictured atop a ’90s-era Nike box, we can fairly confidently conclude these are in fact a 2001-series production, as the XI Low only debuted in this form six years after the originals (the IE was the true OG AJXI Low).  Click through for a closer look, let us know how this ‘Columbia’-like colorway compares to the ones that did make it to retail and check out the AJ11 sample available from qkro23 on eBay . New York Yankees ace C.C. Sabathia started the 2011 season off in style, pitching from the Yankees Stadium mound on opening day wearing a cleated player exclusive Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’.  Sabathia seems to be a huge fan of the Elevens, having also pitched in the ‘Cool Grey’ and ‘Space Jam’ editions, but all of those have had metal spikes attached to their soles.  Here’s a look at a model that C.C.

How exactly is it that there’s a white and black pair of Air Jordan XI Lows that isn’t referred to as ‘Concord Lows’? That’s simply because the original AJXI Low that released in 1996 wasn’t the patent leather version (that actually premiered in 2001), but rather the Air Jordan 11 IE Low .  And this pair gets as close to the beloved Concord Elevens as the IE’s design will allow, a look so satisfying and significant to the series that we’re surprised it’s only being released here in 2011 (July, to be exact).  Click through to see a fresh round of close-ups and grab a pair early from RMKStore . A black and red Air Jordan XI would be an instant sell-out, correct? That might not be the exact case with the IE Lows, one of the few OG Jordans with a lukewarm following. It’s a lower-cut Air Jordan 11 with vents on the upper (which might’ve served as an inspiration for the design of the Air Jordan 2011 Quick Fuse ) and tumbled leather, and although the design of the shoe is rather unique, it never really captured the universal love that most other Air Jordans get.
